Ideal for:  Those requiring a leadership or management qualification within any setting for children or young people. The Advanced Practice pathway is great for those wishing to develop their career but remain active practitioners, whereas the management pathway will support you in developing your role as a manager. You must be aged 19 or over with a full and relevant (F&R) Level 3 qualification appropriate for the age range with which you are working.

Practical Placement Required: Yes, you must already be working in a setting with opportunities to work in a supervisory, leadership or advanced practice role

The NCFE CACHE Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care and Children and Young People’s Services is perfect for those requiring a leadership or management qualification within any setting for children or young people. The Advanced Practice pathway is great for those wishing to develop their career but remain active practitioners. You must be aged 19 or over with a full and relevant Level 3 qualification appropriate for the age range with which you are working. This is particularly relevant to those working in early years, such as the NCFE CACHE Level 3 Diploma for the Early Years Workforce (Early Years Educator). Those wishing to study at Level 5 without previously holding a Level 3 Early Years qualification may wish to consider the NCFE CACHE Level 5 Early Years Senior Practitioner (603/3907/X) which meets the full and relevant criteria to enter the early years workforce and count within staffing ratios.

Overview of the Qualification:

There are two pathways to choose from, either:
– Management pathway, ideal for those working as a manager, deputy manager or assistant manager
– Advanced Practice pathway, ideal for those looking to advance their career whilst still working as an active practitioner.

Shared Core Mandatory Pathway, 6 units, 30 credits
SHC 51 Use and develop systems that promote communication
SHC 52 Promote professional development
SHC 53 Champion equality, diversity and inclusion
M1 Develop health and safety and risk management policies, procedures and practices in health and social care or children and young people’s settings
M2c Work in partnership in health and social care or children and young people’s settings
OP5.25 Undertake a research project within services for health and social care or children and young people

Management Pathway Mandatory Units, 6 units, 38 credits
MU 5.2 – Understand children and young person’s development
MU 5.3 – Lead practice that supports positive outcomes for child and young person development
MU 5.4 – Develop and implement policies and procedures to support the safeguarding of children and young people
LM1c – Lead and manage a team within a health and social care or children and young people’s setting
LM2c – Develop professional supervision practice in health and social care or children and young people’s work settings
O36 – Lead practice in promoting the well-being and resilience of children and young people

Advanced Practice Pathway Mandatory Units, 4 units, 26 credits
MU 5.2 – Understand children and young person’s development
MU 5.3 – Lead practice that supports positive outcomes for child and young person development
MU 5.4 – Develop and implement policies and procedures to support the safeguarding of children and young people
O36 – Lead practice in promoting the well-being and resilience of children and young people
