The NCFE CACHE Level 3 Diploma for Working in the Early Years Sector (Early Years Educator) was introduced by NCFE CACHE in 2024 following the DfE review of the Early Years Educator criteria. It is perfect for those wishing to be a fully qualified early years practitioner with a licence to practice. Practitioners holding this qualification, alongside GCSE (or equivalent) in English and paediatric first aid, are able to count in the ratios of adults to children in the setting as a fully qualified early years educator.

This qualification has replaced the NCFE CACHE Level 3 Diploma for the Early Years Workforce (Early Years Educator) from 1 September 2024.

Overview of the Qualification:

This qualification provides a licence to practice enabling you to enter the workforce as an Early Years Educator. It is full and relevant, Ofqual regulated and accredited by NCFE CACHE.  It is a competence-based qualification (CBQ)  with assessment focused on practice within an early years setting.

Qualification Structure:

This CBQ (Competence-based Qualification) has 10 units:

EYE L3 WF 1 – Introduction to the role of the early years educator (T/651/1390)

EYE L3 WF 2 – Holistic child development (Y/651/1391)

EYE L3 WF 3 – Children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) (A/651/1392)

EYE L3 WF 4 – Effective communication in an early years setting (D/651/1393)

EYE L3 WF 5 – Safeguarding and welfare requirements (F/651/1394)

EYE L3 WF 6 – Health, wellbeing and safety (H/651/1395)

EYE L3 WF 7 – Promoting an effective early years curriculum (J651/1396)

EYE L3 WF 8 – Assessment of children’s learning and development (K/651/1397)

EYE L3 WF 9 – Understanding play for learning and holistic development (L/651/1398)

EYE L3 WF 10 – Partnership working (M/651/1399)

 

Assessment Methods: This qualification enables you to show case your practice using a broad range of assessment methods. From direct observation in your setting, to written assignments, photographs of work products you have created, reflective writing to show how you are taking on board your learning and implementing excellence throughout your work with the children and adults in your setting. We are confident you will not only grow as an outstanding professional, but also gain fantastic career opportunities as an early years professional.

Each unit contains a range of knowledge and practical work to enable you to learn and develop your skills and understanding throughout your studies.
